A message from the Head of Year 9: On Friday, Year 9 students had the real privilege of hearing an extraordinary testimony through G2G (Generation2Generation), as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor visited our school to share her parent’s story. It was a powerful and deeply moving experience — both inspiring and harrowing — that brought history to life in the most human way, reminding us of the importance of remembrance, empathy, and standing up against prejudice in all its forms. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity and for the courage, generosity, and compassion shown in sharing such an important story with our students. It was also a very proud moment for me as the Head of Year 9 to receive the feedback that our students behaved impeccably well, making the speaker feel very welcome through their beautiful behaviour.

This week, we are delighted to celebrate two more winners of the Principal’s Praise Award: Evana Y in 10Trotter and Mara C in 7Catalano. Evana has been recognised for her exceptional commitment to learning, and Mara has been praised for the enthusiasm she has shown since joining us in September, throwing herself into every opportunity available to her. Both students are thoroughly deserving of this recognition and should be very proud of their achievements for their positive and proactive attitudes.

Message from Head of Year 8: I'm very pleased to share the fantastic achievement of one of our students, Eva M in 8Dharmani, who recently competed at the National Entertainment Awards with her dance school. Eva's dance school was awarded Best Dance School, securing a place at the finals at the O2 Arena. In addition to this, they also received the Golden Buzzer, which means they will go on to perform in New York on Broadway! This is a significant accomplishment and reflects the hard work, commitment and talent she has shown in her dancing. We are proud to recognise her success and wish her and her dance school every success as they prepare for these exciting upcoming performances. Year 11 Mock Exam Timetable – Week Two Information for Parents/Carers As we move into the second week of the Year 11 mock examinations, students will continue to build confidence, practise exam conditions, and identify areas for further improvement ahead of their GCSEs. We kindly ask parents and carers to support students by maintaining good routines, encouraging regular revision, and ensuring they get plenty of rest. Reassurance and positivity at home can make a real difference to students’ confidence and wellbeing. Please remember that mock exams are a valuable learning opportunity, providing feedback to support future teaching and revision. This morning, our Year 9 students took part in an informative Post‑16 pathways assembly led by South Essex College. They were introduced to the different options available after Year 11, including A‑levels, T‑levels, BTECs, and apprenticeships, and learned what each route involves. Students were really engaged and had opportunity to ask questions. This session is an important part of our options process, helping them make meaningful links between KS4 and their next steps.

📘 Year 11 English – Power Hour This Week 📘 We started with An Inspector Calls this week, and I would like to commend Year 11 for their excellent conduct and strong attendance to the session. Students demonstrated maturity, focus, and commitment, showing a serious and positive approach to their exam preparation. Power Hour has been a key part of our highly successful English strategy for a few years now and has helped secure results consistently within the top 10% nationally in recent years. This week’s first Power Hour took place on Tuesday where students were guided step by step through each part of the English exam. Power Hours are designed to: ✅ Build confidence within the exam environment ✅ Reduce anxiety by clearly modelling the exam process ✅ Provide opportunities to practise key skills following guided support Students had time to complete exam-style practice and were able to take the resource away to support further revision or hand their work in to be marked, ready for feedback the following week. Classroom-based intervention sessions on Monday and Tuesday also continued to run for those who preferred smaller group support. Overall, attendance and engagement was excellent, reinforcing why Power Hour remains such an effective strategy. Well done, Year 11—keep up the fantastic effort. Miss Koyas Head of Year 11

We are proud to announce our most recent winners of the Principal’s Praise Award are two fantastic students from Year 8 and Year 7. Kayla R in 8Dharmani has been recognised for being consistently hardworking, polite, and for always doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. She is a model student who sets an excellent example to those around her and represents the very best of our school values. Adriana M in 7Lindo has been praised for the excellent effort and skill she shows in all of her work, consistently giving thoughtful and well-explained answers in lessons. 📚 Year 11 – Final Week of Term Intervention 📚 During the final week of term, Year 11 intervention sessions will focus on English, Maths and Science. The intervention timetable has been shared and is designed to provide targeted support as students prepare for their upcoming assessments. Students have already made strong progress between their Year 10 mocks and the November mock exams, and these sessions will help them continue to build on that success. 📅 Please note that Year 11 mock examinations begin on 19th January, making this final week of term an important opportunity to consolidate learning. In addition, students will be supported during LG sessions to create personalised revision timetables to help structure their holiday revision effectively. On Tuesday our KS4 students took part in our Post-16 Moving On Careers Event and Fair. Year 11 students attended presentations exploring different pathways, including A-levels, T-levels, apprenticeships, and employment. All students had the chance to attend our careers fair and meet more than 25 post-16 providers, from local sixth forms and colleges to apprenticeship providers, employers, and careers advisors. This event was designed to empower our students to make informed choices about their future and take the next steps with confidence. A huge thank you to all our visitors who made this event possible.
