Live Theatre and Workshop Inspire Drama Students
GCSE Drama students visited the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch recently to see their production of DNA, by Dennis Kelly, which the students are studying for GCSE.
We were also lucky enough to have a follow-up workshop, which was held at Harris Academy Rainham and led by the actors from the production and who are all currently studying at Central School of Speech & Drama. The workshop was designed to further our students’ knowledge of the characters and themes in the play.
"Our students thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to see a live performance and also learn more about the creative process of devising and rehearsing for a production," said Mrs Rowell, Lead Practitioner in Drama. "I believe this is an experience our students will remember for a long time to come."
Students also learned more about the courses offered at Central school of Speech & Drama for anyone wishing to further a career in the Performing Arts Industry.
What students said...
"I really enjoyed the play and think it will definitely help me in Year 11 with the written exam." Albie
"The workshop was really good to have in our own school's drama studio, due to its different nature and breaking away from the usual. A very enjoyable experience!" Andrei
"The play and workshop is definitely going to help me prepare for my GCSE. The people leading the workshop were very inspiring and really helped my knowledge and understanding of the play." Lily
